Course & Event Description

  • The race will be ten 5 mile loops within Weymouth Woods State Nature Preserve. Each loop will begin and end at the park visitor center. The trails are a combination of sand, lots of roots, pinestraw, and dirt. Bring gaters - unless you want to pick pinestraw out of your shoes!

  • Solo runners will complete ten loops. Relay partners will each complete five loops.

  • The course will be well marked with orange flags and directional signs. It is almost impossible to get lost or go off trail. Seriously! You will need a good light, however, if you plan on being out after dark.

  • See the course map here.

  • See elevation profile here.

  • The race will be professionally timed by David Lee of Finish Line Pros who has timed our previous ten 100k events. The timing tent will be located at the visitor center auditorium. Runners will cross the timing mat every loop. Split times will be posted for each runner's loop and updated frequently throughout the race.

Shirts & Awards

  • Shirts are excellent quality Ogio long sleeve tech shirts with race logo. They are gender specific shirts and you will have an option to choose your preference at registration. Note that shirts will not be guaranteed for runners who register after December 20, 2019.

  • All finishers will receive a custom ceramic award.

  • Special solo awards will be given for first place male and female overall, and first place MTC male and female overall.

  • Special relay awards for first place male team, first place female team, and first place mixed team.

  • All awards are made by the very talented Michael Mahan of From the Ground Up Pottery in Seagrove, NC. We are proud to have him create the awards for our race.

Aid Stations & Facilities

  • There will be two aid stations: our main aid station will be at the park visitor center, and the satellite aid station is at approximately the 3mile mark, at the corner of Bethesda and Connecticut roads. We will have various hot and cold food (pizza, soup, sandwiches, etc.) plus traditional ultrafare such as candy and chips. We typically provide several vegetarian and vegan options.

  • The auditorium is reserved specifically for our runners and their families & friends and will be open for the duration of the race. There are indoor restrooms in the visitor center, which will also be open for the duration of the race.

  • All runners must park in the overflow lot across the street from the entrance on Fort Bragg Rd.

    • If needed, runners can drop off their gear at the auditorium but must then move their car to the overflow lot.

  • Family members, friends, and pacers arriving later in the day or evening may be able to park in the visitor center lot at the discretion of the park management.

Park Policies

  • The park gates will open at 6:00am race morning. There is no overnight camping in the park the night before.

  • The park gates will stay open for the duration of the event so family and friends may come and go as they please.

  • Please note that tents are not allowed. There is no alcohol permitted on the park grounds. Please see the Weymouth Park website for complete park rules.
